Palamos Optimist Trophy Nations Cup 2015, Spain - Day 2
Woke up at 8am for breakfast at 8:10. Had a power breakfast made up of big bowls of porridge, lots of raisins, bananas and plenty of eggy bread. We made our own lunches for on the water, then the team met at 9am at the club. We rigged, changed and briefed and were then set up ready for a great light wind training day on the water, although we were delayed launching due to lack of wind. Had a great 2 hr training session with Matt for venue familiarisation and also focused on s

National Squad Residential, Pwllheli - Day 3
Solid day on the water mainly focusing on rig set up and race starts. It was a little lighter than on Friday but it was still pretty breezy! We had wind from the North, which brought snow, sleet and a little rain so yes, it was pretty cold, but I was toastie warm!! The starting was a good opportunity to see how I was doing against the UK’s top sailors and we finished off with some great practice races. Fantastic 3 squad days and hard to believe that I was about to sign off on

National Squad Residential, Pwllheli - Day 2
Sailing cancelled due to too much wind – over 35knots, though I would love to have gone out for a blast! Despite this we still had a long day with loads packed in. Started with mobility/fitness, classwork and fun games. We talked about many racing situations, boathandling and various other topics. It was great to run through things again and talk about new things and situations that we may not have thought about. When we got back to Plas Menai, we had dinner before going swim

Alarm off at 07.00, breakfast at 08.00, fitness at 09.00, rigged, changed, briefing and on the water by 10.00. Weather around 10 to 25 knots, beautiful sunshine and great location! Challenging shifty conditions up close to the shore. We did one long session focusing on boat speed, downwind speed, gybing and a little bit of starting.
Training in Poole
After a lovely Christmas break, it was fantastic to hit the water again for a full weekends training in Poole. On Saturday the wind ranged from around 20 to 28 knots from the West. We haven't had wind in a while, so it was nice to get back out on the hiking pads; it was a great opportunity to practice boat handling. All our sessions start with a briefing, followed by at least 30 minutes of fitness. When we hit the water it was a high impact 2.5 hrs training session in the mor
