Palamos Optimist Trophy Nations Cup 2015, Spain - Day 2

Woke up at 8am for breakfast at 8:10. Had a power breakfast made up of big bowls of porridge, lots of raisins, bananas and plenty of eggy bread. We made our own lunches for on the water, then the team met at 9am at the club. We rigged, changed and briefed and were then set up ready for a great light wind training day on the water, although we were delayed launching due to lack of wind.

Had a great 2 hr training session with Matt for venue familiarisation and also focused on sitting positions and rig tuning before going into the practice race. Conditions were quite light and flat.

The practice race was interesting with the race committee trying to start 544 Optimists on one HUGE start line. Never done that before. This was always going to be tough in the light airs. We had one general recall before many ribs were repositioned in front of the start line to hold us all back. Rounded off with a little more training with Matt, before heading back in.

Wow….dinner tasted so good! We had pasta tortellini and then fruit for afterwards, followed by an early night.

Can’t wait for event to start tomorrow. Looks like we are going to have a fair bit of wind. Looking forward to it!!
